a D&D London restaurant
“Wine has always been a passion for me. Other people read fiction; when I come home at night I read about wine.”
Originally from Denmark, Kathrine worked in Michelin-starred restaurants in Copenhagen while also studying at hospitality college. Working with sommeliers at those restaurants led to a passion for wine, so she started studying the subject on her own in 2001 and “one thing led to another”.
In October 2007 Kathrine came to London and started working as a sommelier at Skylon, where she was promoted to assistant head sommelier. In June 2008 she passed her first two levels in the Court of Master Sommeliers and the advanced level in June 2009. In June 2010 she moved to Le Pont de la Tour, becoming head sommelier there under Master Sommelier Nicolas Clerc.
Kathrine won the Award of Excellence for service (Academy of Culinary Arts) in 2009 and won the London regional final of UK Sommelier of the Year in 2011. In February 2012 she took over as head of the wine team at Orrery restaurant.
